Scary Movie 2

Plot Synopsis:

One year after the events of the first film, the “survivors” (they all died in the first movie) take part in a sleep study at a haunted house led by a horny professor.

Positives: 

Once again, I have to give props to the cast. Most of the cast of the first movie returns (including franchise MVPs Anna Faris and Regina Hall). I do think a lot of the newcomers deserve some recognition. This might be Chris Elliott’s most iconic role, and for good reason. And, my God, I think just casting Tim Curry automatically improves any movie. Much like the first film, I still think the humor mostly works. My favorite scene in the movie might be the opening scene parodying The Exorcist. The moment where James Woods sees the classic head rotation and just goes “fuck this” is maybe the moment that makes me laugh the hardest in the entire movie. 

Negatives:

I feel like this movie doubles down on the gross-out jokes. There’s an extended moment with a character peeing on the floor, as well as an extended scene where multiple characters all start vomiting on each other that goes on way too long.

Final Thoughts:

Given the choice, I still think I prefer the first film, but I still have a lot of dumb fun with this second one.

  Plot Synopsis:  After years of being traumatized by Ghostface killings, Sidney Prescott has relocated to the town of Pine Grove, Indiana. Now her oldest daughter Tatum is the same age that she was when the Ghostface killings began. Of course, a new Ghostface pops up to begin slicing people up to get to Sidney and her daughter.  Positives: As usual, Neve Campbell shows up to work. I kind of like that this is a Sidney Prescott dealing with motherhood. She's still a very guarded person. I kind of like that the lesson she has to learn is that she has to teach her daughter how to be a fighter, and that Sidney needs to learn that she can't always be there to protect her kid. Isabel May is solid as Tatum. Something I like that I know is not going to be for everybody is how they utilize Matthew Lillard. I won't go into spoilers here. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come

Plot Synopsis: Picking up right where the first film left off, Grace (played by Samara Weaving) unwittingly finds herself in a new game of Hide and Seek that was triggered by her survival at the end of the first movie. However, this time, she is being hunted by the most powerful families in the world, and she must not only keep herself alive, but also her estranged sister (played by Kathryn Newton).  Positives: I think this movie's greatest strength is its cast. As usual, Samara Weaving is excellent. But, I also love the new additions. As I already mentioned, you have Kathryn Newton. I also love the additions of Elijah Wood and Sarah Michelle Gellar. The chemistry between Samara Weaving and Kathryn Newton really works. The two of them are the heart of the movie, and they really work off each other well. Ghostface Killers Ranked

Before going into my ranking, I feel like it should go without saying, but there will be spoilers for Scream 7. #17: Greg: Not everyone is necessarily going to include the two guys from the opening scene from 6. But, since they had a clear plot that they had set in motion, I am. Greg is the one who comes in last, pretty much by default. He's the one who is dismembered in the fridge. He's already a corpse. Who knows how things would have gone for him if he wasn't already dead at the beginning of the narrative.  #16: Karl Gibbs: Karl Gibbs is a character who is killed and unmasked roughly halfway through 7. He's near the bottom because he totals maybe 30 seconds of screentime, and has no lines. Because of this, his reveal is very underwhelming.  #15: Marco Davis: In case you're wondering who he is, Marco is the orderly from 7.
