Episode Synopsis: Wednesday's mystery deepens as she learns the prophecy she is a part of is connected to the town's founder, Joseph Crackstone.  Positives:  So, one of the things that's happened in the background of the season thus far that I actually realized I quite like in this episode specifically is the budding relationship between Enid and Ajax. A large part of that is that I genuinely think Enid is just adorable. One character that was hinted at in the second episode that I was waiting to address in this episode is Wednesday's ancestor Goody. Because I don't want to necessarily be too redundant in my episodic reviews, I think this episode is as good of a place as any to talk about Jenna Ortega. She pulls double duty periodically through the season, and she does a really good job at making Wednesday and Goody feel like two completely distinct characters. So, I was talking to my aunt and she did this thing for her Instragram that was for six horror movies everyone must know. After talking with her, I wanted to do something similar.  Disclaimer: I'm not going with what are generally the most obvious choices. So you're not going to see anything like Scream, Evil Dead, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Blair Witch Project, etc. So here we go. These are my personal picks.  Anthology: My pick for anthology horror is Trick 'r Treat. It's just a perfect capsule for the timeframe of Halloween. This is the one movie I think just has a little bit of everything in it. I also just think Sam deserves more of an icon status than he gets credit for.  Ghosts: My ghost movie choice is The Frighteners. This movie is such a fun ride. It's the kind of movie that knows exactly what it is. It's got some fun performances from the likes of Michael J. Fox and Jeffrey Combs.  Sci-Fi: My sci-fi movie pick is The Faculty. Plot Synopsis An American man living in South Africa is prepped for surgery. While he is waiting on the operating table, a zombie outbreak occurs. He, along with two of the doctors, and another man (I believe the brother of one of the doctors) must work together to survive. Positives The makeup effects are pretty good. A couple of the actors are alright. There’s a scene near the beginning where the screen is completely black. The main character is essentially in the dark while we can’t see the zombie mayhem, only hear it. That scene is the only real effective moment of horror in the movie.  Negatives  I suppose I’ll start with the main character. I hated following this asshole. I understand what the movie was trying to do. Give us a main character who is a selfish asshole that has to learn to be less of a dick as the movie goes on.  So, this is something I’ve never really done before. But, I just finished an audiobook, so I figured I’d actually do a book review.  Plot Synopsis: Wyatt Green is still grieving after her mother’s murder a year prior. She believes her town is cursed by a sickness that makes people violent during the month November. She is also in love with a friend of hers, Cash. She’s also partnered with Cash’s rival, Porter for a school project, and finds herself drawn to him. Throughout all of this, she’s trying to find the truth surrounding her mother’s death. Positives: At its core, this book feels very coming-of-age, just with a darker twist, and I kind of like that. The book also takes a bit more of a slow burn approach, and the ultimate reveal it’s building to makes sense with the story. Now, I will have more to say about the reveal in another section. This is something I've been wanting to do, and thinking about for a good long while. What are the horror movies I truly hate the most of the hundreds I have seen in the almost 31 years I have been alive. For the time being, this is what I came up with.  Dishonorable Mentions: A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010): Some interesting ideas, but the movie never feels like committing to them. I hate the fact this movie also takes what was subtext in the original and just makes it text. I also feel like Katie Cassidy's character behaves more like Nancy than the actual Nancy in this movie.  Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation: Yes, it's a terrible movie, but it's mostly off the list because it's insane.  Scream 7: The initial review I wrote leaned positive.
