Six Horror Movies Everyone Must See

So, I was talking to my aunt and she did this thing for her Instragram that was for six horror movies everyone must know. After talking with her, I wanted to do something similar.

Disclaimer:

I'm not going with what are generally the most obvious choices. So you're not going to see anything like Scream, Evil Dead, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Blair Witch Project, etc. So here we go. These are my personal picks.

Anthology:

My pick for anthology horror is Trick 'r Treat. It's just a perfect capsule for the timeframe of Halloween. This is the one movie I think just has a little bit of everything in it. I also just think Sam deserves more of an icon status than he gets credit for.

Ghosts:

My ghost movie choice is The Frighteners. This movie is such a fun ride. It's the kind of movie that knows exactly what it is. It's got some fun performances from the likes of Michael J. Fox and Jeffrey Combs.

Sci-Fi:

My sci-fi movie pick is The Faculty. My personal favorite era of horror is the late 90s post Scream era. I think The Faculty is one of the most under-rated movies to come out of that time frame.

Slashers:

My slasher movie pick is Black Christmas. So many of the well-known slashers of that time frame went on to get sequels. Black Christmas had a couple of remakes, but ultimately it kind of stands alone, and has such an effective atmosphere.

Witches:

I was torn between two movies to represent witchcraft. I ended up going with The Craft. Similar to The Faculty, I think this is an under-rated movie that deserves more attention.

Zombies:

This was one I really racked my brain with. What do I choose for my zombie movie pick? I kind of ended up settling on Planet Terror. It has a B-movie feel by design, and I kind of love it for that. It's a crossing of minds between Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. It's gross and sleazy, but it's also a ton of fun.
