Final Destination Movies Ranked

So, I did a ranking a few years ago. But, with a new movie in the franchise, and with the rest of them fresh in my mind, I felt this was the perfect time for an update.

#6: The Final Destination: This still stands as the worst of the franchise in just about every aspect. The characters in this movie are probably the worst of the franchise (Mykelti Williamson being the exception). The effects are embarrassingly bad. And with this being the shortest entry, the story is the most barebones of the series

#5: Final Destination 3: While this has never been my favorite of the series, I do think there’s a huge gap between this and last place. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is a solid lead, and easily the best actor in the movie. There’s a couple of all-timer kills here too. Some of the ideas this movie puts forth are never really explored further, which is kind of unfortunate. This one is perfectly fine.

#4: Final Destination 5: Compared to three and four, I appreciate the expansion to the lore this movie offers. I also think the effects are quite a bit better here. I’m also glad to have Tony Todd back after being mostly absent from three (save for some voice work) and completely absent from four. What holds this one back is, I just don’t have any feelings one way or the other about any of the survivors.

#3: Final Destination Bloodlines: The most recent addition to the series offers a nice, emotional send-off to the great Tony Todd. Once again, there’s an interesting angle added to the lore, with Death being after an entire family that was never meant to exist. While the family members aren’t my favorites, I would still take them over the characters from the movies I rank lower. I also, once again have to harp on the CGI gore. It’s not the worst, but it’s not great either.

#2: Final Destination: The original offers such a great concept (and easily my favorite batch of characters in the franchise). I think it’s such a good starting place.

#1: Final Destination 2: While there are definitely elements to this movie I found weaker (Alex getting an off-screen death anyone), I think this movie has the best premonition, and does what a good sequel should. It takes the premise of the original, and expands on it.
