Night Teeth

Plot Synopsis:

College student Benny fills in for his brother as a driver one night. Over the course of the night, he finds himself driving two attractive women to various spots. Things take a turn when these women turn out to be vampires. Now, Benny finds himself in the middle of a bloody power struggle.

Positives:

Director Adam Randall injects the movie with some visual style. The best way I could describe this movie is cool. The cast is solid all around. In particular, I really like Alfie Allen as the movie's villain. Victor as an antagonist has a pretty relatable motive. He's sick of not having power, and just wants to be respected. While I'm at it, I should also give some props to Lucy Fry. She's pretty damn good as someone who's clearly a little unhinged, but is also having the time of her life. The movie also has pretty solid pacing. It's a little under two hours, but it moves pretty quickly. Finally, I really dig the way this movie uses L.A. as a setting. I've talked about the visual style, but I also like the hip hop soundtrack for the movie as well.

Mixed Aspects:

This isn't something I disliked or anything. It's more something I feel I should warn you about. There isn't a ton of action in the movie. So, just go into this movie knowing that ahead of time. That said, the action we do get is pretty fun for me. I should also note that the plot isn't the most original necessarily. It does sort of feel like Collateral with vampires. Again, much like the toning down on action, this wasn't really something that bothered me. Still, it is something I feel needs to be addressed.

Negatives:

Because the story isn't super original, there are certain plot points that were pretty easy to see coming. But, that is a pretty minor nitpick in the grand scheme of things.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I had a pretty fun time with Night Teeth. It's on Netflix. So, go ahead and check it out if you've got two hours to kill.

My Rating:

  1. I've never heard of this movie before this post. What genre is it? Straight horror? Thriller/action? Comedy?
