Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter

Plot Synopsis:  After the events of the third movie, Jason was left for dead. However, when it turns out he's still alive, he begins killing teenagers again. Jason also begins targeting the Jarvis family.  Positives: The kills are easily the movie's primary highlight (or at least most of them are). A lot of them are nice and gruesome, something you would really want out of a slasher movie like this one. There is at least one kill that I think deserves the "so bad it's good" award. The intent was for it to be horrifying. Instead, it's just hilarious. Another thing I think really works in this movie's favor is the introduction of the character of Tommy Jarvis played by Corey Feldman. Jarvis is just a young boy, and that legitimately elevates the danger in my opinion. I can also appreciate that Crispin Glover is in this movie. Friday the 13th Part 3

Plot Synopsis:  Following the events of the second movie, another group of twenty-somethings runs afoul of Jason Voorhees.  Positives:  The first thing I have to say is that this is the movie where we officially get Jason Voorhees as we know and love him. Steve Miner returns to direct this third film. Once again, I actually think he displays some knowledge of how to build up tension and atmosphere. Adding on to that, I once again have to highlight the music in this movie. I mean this is a movie that has a disco rendition of the theme song, and I honestly kind of love it. Something I actually appreciated more on this viewing were some of the more humorous moments in the film. A good chunk of those moments actually kind of worked for me. Finally, I have to compliment some of the kills. As usual, they tend to be some of the standout elements. In particular, I really like the handstand kill.  Mixed Aspects:  I honestly have mixed feelings towards the opening scene. ...
